Cannon Dill’s most recent body of work “Sun Sick” presents a collection of paintings which takes the viewer away from the city and into a lush moment of reflection. The title of the show can be interpreted in two different ways: the feeling of longing for the sun, or experiencing heat to the point of delirium. This body of work is in contrast to the artist’s 2018 exhibition “Dim”, which was directly based on living in the urban environment. This exhibition aims to highlight feelings of heat, pressure, community and decision making, through imagery that ranges from naive figuration to bold graphic figures.
Cannon Dill (b. 1991) is a painter living and working in Oakland, CA. He has had solo exhibitions at Pt.2 gallery (Oakland) and participated in shows in San Francisco, NYC, and London.
