Yétundé Olagbaju represented by pt.2
pt. 2 Gallery is pleased to announce the representation of Yétundé Olagbaju. A filmmaker, archivist, painter and sculptor, Olagbaju’s artwork reexamines and recontextualizes history and mythology, particularly in relation to Black labor and the relation to their bodies. Much of Olagbaju’s work concentrates on the study of residuals of truth. At times, this entails archival work to preserve memories of their own family history and various creation myths they were raised hearing. At other moments, Olagbaju seeks to assess what history has left behind and highlights unseen labor of Black women through performance such as “Untitled (10,000 Seconds For Nancy Green)”.
Olagbaju will exhibit with pt. 2 Gallery in April in the Represented Artist’s Group Exhibition. Their first solo exhibition, On Becoming a Star..., will be on display in August 2021. Their solo show will showcase new paintings, photographic processes, drawings, and bronze works that together tell a new mythology. One that is in service to Mammy and provides her space to grieve and experience well-deserved joy. Through intimate vignetted glimpses into Mammy’s journey, the viewer will be invited to bear witness to her transformation.
